Welcome to the 2009-2010 academic year!
Counseling Services is pleased to see the campus energized by our entering frosh, transfer, graduate, international and returning students! Welcome one and all!
Despite UC and state budget difficulties and the threat of the H1N1 flu, we believe that UCSB is a great place to be. We are excited to begin this new academic year. Nevertheless, this year is shaping up to be a challenging one. We at Counseling Services encourage you to utilize all the available support services in the division of Student Affairs needed to be a successful student. Your physical and emotional health is important to your capacity to be resilient in stressful times. Please follow the guidelines set forth about H1N1 to avoid getting sick. If you do get sick, please take care of yourself and avoid going to class and coming into contact with others to the extent possible.
Remember to take advantage of our stress management resources, including the egg and massage chairs at Counseling Services and all the Wellness Program events. It is very relaxing to take a walk around the lagoon or go to the beach. We are fortunate to have these resources on campus, so try to find the time to appreciate and benefit from all that is around you.
Our UCSB community of staff, students and faculty is known to remain positive and collaborative while addressing challenges. Counseling Services will continue to offer quality services and look forward to keeping our community healthy and happy.
Sincerely,
Jeanne Stanford
